Beasts of London experience at the Museum of London explores the fascinating role animals have played in shaping the capital. Step into a self-guided tour through London’s beasty history, narrated by the animals who once lived here.

Follow the footprints to travel through time, from the Roman era through Medieval London and right up to present day, narrated by the beasts themselves. Discover how animals – from lions and elephants, to horses, rats and pigeons – have shaped the city and its beastly history.

Inspired by objects drawn from the museum’s world class collection and working in partnership with Guildhall School of Music & Drama, this family-friendly show brings you face to face with the beasts both large and small who helped shape the city we know today. Made up of nine episodes, each tells the story of the capital from an animal’s perspective, highlighting some of the city’s most iconic moments.

The animals throughout the experience are voiced by well-known names such as Kate Moss, Brian Blessed, Pam Ferris, Nish Kumar, Stephen Mangan, Angellica Bell and Joe Pasquale alongside actors from Guildhall School. The experience starts prehistoric London and London’s very first beasts.

Attendees are encouraged to self-guide themselves through to Roman London. Menageries of Medieval Ages is followed by the Great Plague of 1665 as discussed on our Heretics and Horrors Tour. You are then thrown in a a colourful and noisy Victorian London with a circus and tavern. Finally, you arrive back in in the 21st century to explore people’s relationship with the city’s animals today.
