As somebody that lives in London it’s easy to walk through the Green Park area admiring the architecture without any thought to the ‘human’ history of the buildings. The tour was a real eye opener. Fascinating and, at times, scandalous. Thoroughly enjoyable and informative. Excellent guide. Highly recommend if you have an inquisitive mind, a penchant for light history and 90 minutes to spare.

Hazel is very knowledgeable and makes her tour interesting. I learned so much about places I have walked passed in the past without giving them a second thought. I especially liked the very interesting Covent Garden market artwork and working donkey plaque which I’d never noticed before. Hazel brings the past to life. A very interesting and enjoyable 90 minute walk.

What a fantastic way to spend this Sunday afternoon. Thoroughly enjoyed the walk, very informative. I felt that Stephen had done excellently planning and researching for the walk. Stephen brings a magic to the walk and also is very clearly spoken so that I heard every word. I would highly recommend. Looking forward to the next walk.

Enjoyable tour round some historic sites near Blackfriars tube named after the friars that once had an abbey there and favoured by the Crown until the break from Rome. The site is now the Blackfriars pub with its unusual metal and stone depictions of monks on the wall. Nearby is the site of the Baynard Castle, built by the Normans with long history of Crown connections, the headquarters of the Yorks during the War of the Roses, and later gifted by Henry VIII to Catherine of Aragon. The site is now a rather ugly BT building. We walked through the narrow streets to other sites, including the College of Arms, and the King’s Wardrobe which was once a place that stored Crown possessions. Our guide Susan made the past come alive despite the fact that many of the historic buildings are long gone.

The Greenwich London walk that I went to yesterday was the first walk of this kind that I have been on but not the last walk I hope to go on as I am now hooked! The guide was superb, managing to present such interesting historical facts interspersed with fascinating stories and anecdotes. He made sure everyone could see and hear as we walked round and stopped at various points on the fascinating route amongst historic and beautiful Greenwich. He was very professional in his delivery and was obviously an expert on the area and its history. Altogether a wonderful and informative ninety minutes.

Hampstead village highlights walk today with blue badge guide Rona Levine was excellent! She took us through the backstreets revealing the history, famous inhabitants and great contributions. Just hundreds of yards away from the busy hight street the feeling was like we were in a quaint country village with narrow cobbled streets and squares, green and lush gardens and amazing architecture. We learnt so much and enjoyed this walk enormously. Will recommend this walk to anyone with interest in great painters, writers, actors and so on. Many thanks to Rhona for a great walk!
