On this walk we’ll see the beautiful townhouses of the ruling classes and discover how this land was developed by one of the most important urban planners of the 19th Century.

You’ll not only see the grand architecture but we’ll explore some of the hidden streets that contain some of the drinking dens frequented by film stars, royalty and members of the criminal underworld. A location for a murder that would result in a Lord going on the run, as well as an American whose immense wealth would be put to good use by helping the poor.

One of the most expensive places to live in London. Hear how an area of swampland became ripe for development, which eventually became the must have address for the members of the ruling class.

Take in impressive mansions and townhouses take pride of place, but also there was also a large domestic servant population that worked tirelessly to keep the owners households running.

Navigate hidden backstreet pubs, quaint cobbled streets and garden squares add to the character of this exclusive area.

  • Start: Hyde Park Station
  • End: Near Victoria Station
  • There is a small flight of steps on this walk, and we’ll be walking along cobblestones on some of the route so please bear this in mind.
  • Suitable for all age groups.

Secrets of Belgravia Walk Reviews

“I really enjoyed the guided tour. The 90 minutes included several lesser known stories of Belgravia and tipped its hat at several great folk who lived in the area. 90 mins was optimal for the activity and Mark has a warm, well informed manner with a small touch of the theatrical.”
Helen
“An interesting walk around Belgravia on a glorious sunny day. It is not an area I am familiar with, so I enjoyed learning about the area and its connections with Chester. Our guide, Mark, was amiable and took everything thrown at him in his stride. I always come away from London Guided Walks discovering something new about this wonderful city.”
Caroline

“Great chance to explore an area I rarely go to. From the rich squares to the story of the mews we were given a “rich” history. Increased my love of London.”
Rosie
“I really enjoyed this walk as Belgravia is not an area I am familiar with. Learnt a lot about origins of area and saw some cute little pubs. I went myself and people were friendly. Would recommend tours by London Guided Walks and to learn more about London.”
Maria
“This was a very enjoyable walk despite the rain! I got to learn a few anecdotes about life in London in the past two centuries. Never new about the origin of the mews:)! Lovely experience to take home. Thank you!”
Nikolina
“We thoroughly enjoyed this walk, despite the inclement weather. Mark was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the area and its inhabitants. He was thorough and very well informed on different topics about the places in the area. The tour wasn’t rushed, even though we covered a lot of the area. He was really good and we would very much like to see him again doing a tour of a different area of London, perhaps.”
Gill
“Fabulous tour, guide very well informed with constant facts and stories for us to digest. As a Londoner, it is wonderful to learn more about our great city and see new cut-throughs and gems that we have. I have more of these tours to do and look forward to any more that I can attend. Even in the rain, it was marvellous.”
Mary
“We really enjoyed this walk despite the rain showers. Our guide (whose name I have unfortunately forgotten) was excellent. Lots of very interesting information about the history of the area, the people who have lived there and events that have happened there. The pace of the walk was good and the size of the group was very manageable. It was possible to hear everything that was said by the guide which is always a plus. All in all an excellent and informative walk around an undiscovered area of London.”
Warm & friendly guide with good sense of humour. Well-paced, informative walk in a lovely but unfamiliar area so able to learn much from Mark. More than happy to recommend this walk & plan to attend a new walk developed by Mark.
