Growing from strength to strength

Becoming a London tour guide wasn’t originally on my career ladder. For a couple of years I had been writing a London history blog and by default had ended up on the most specialist London tours going. “You should really move your blog onto the streets” I was told. And so that’s what I did. I went back to university to become a qualified London tour guide.

For four years I have worked on my own, always with the vision of creating a space where other professional guides would be able to share their own passions and expertise on guided walks and private tours. But I didn’t know when. It was merely a dream. A hope.

I was at a coffee shop around the corner from the starting point of a guided walk when it dawned on me. This wasn’t an option, it was a calling. An unshakable sure-as-sure can be feeling down to the very last cell in my body that I had to amplify my passion for London history further with the world. I had no idea, in that moment, that my life would change forever. Or even more shockingly, just how much it would change…

“There is no passion to be found playing small—in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.” —Nelson Mandela

With hosting so many corporate events from large companies by black book was bursting with talented tour guides. Over the summer of 2019 in between tours I met with various tour guides hot on the recruitment trail.  After a couple of months I am proud to say that London Guided Walks is growing from strength to strength and now has a team of six dedicated London guides. Find out more about these talented guides.
